Privacy policy

ScrapeIO (https://scrapeio.com) is an API for public social media data. This page explains what we know about you as a customer, and what we do with it.

What we collect

  • Your email address. You sign in with an email link or with Google. With Google we ask only for your email address and whether it is verified. We do not ask for your contacts, files, calendar or any other Google data.
  • Your API keys. We store a one-way hash of each key, so we cannot read a key after we show it to you once.
  • Usage. For each API call: the endpoint, the result status, the credits charged, whether it was cached, how long it took, and when. This powers your dashboard and your bill.
  • Payments. Stripe handles checkout. We receive the pack you bought and the amount, never your card number.
  • Your IP address, used in the moment to limit abuse of sign-in and the API. We do not store it with your account.

Cookies

One session cookie keeps you signed in, and a short-lived cookie protects Google sign-in while it is in progress. We use no advertising or tracking cookies.

How we use it

To run the service, show your usage, bill you, prevent abuse, and send you sign-in links and service messages. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Google user data

We use the email address Google shares with us only to sign you in to ScrapeIO. We do not transfer it to others except the providers below, and our use complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Who processes data for us

  • Cloudflare: hosting, database, caching and email delivery.
  • Stripe: payments.
  • Google: sign-in, when you choose it.

Data the API returns

The API returns data that is publicly available on social platforms. We keep answers in a short cache, from minutes to a few days depending on the endpoint, so repeat calls are fast and free. You are responsible for how you use that data.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your account data while your account is open. To delete your account and its data, write to xhoantran@gmail.com from the email on the account. We keep payment records as long as tax law requires.
